Sky Hoffman
Born and raised in Las Vegas where his father produced and choreographed shows, Sky (born Sky Makor Hoffmann) was always around the industry. With an extensive background in the martial arts and equal experience in classical and jazz piano, Sky, as he explains it, "indirectly developed the skills necessary to pursue a career in music and movement", or more simply, ". . . [has] a great ear and eye for things".
As with most children growing up in the 80's and 90's, Sky was apart of the ever-growing MTV generation. Such artists as Michael and Janet Jackson, New Edition, MC Hammer, and the like, were dominating the airwaves, and, like many other teenagers, were emulating their idols by doing what else, impersonating them. Sky was no exception. In result, his "indirect development" ended him up in a whole new world called Culture Shock. A hip-hop dance troupe with a focus toward inner-city youth. With no prior formal dance training, Sky flourished along a new path of unfathomed dreams. Beginning in 1995, he trained consistently with the troupe for 3 years, was casted in a show, Splash, at the Riviera in Las Vegas as a chorus dancer/M.C. and performed in various conventions and industrials throughout, all the while teaching and choreographing for Culture Shock. In 1998, he made the big move to Los Angeles to see if he had what it took to be successful in the entertainment industry. |
Eight years later and multiple tours, commercials, videos, stage performances and awards shows running the majority of his resume, not to mention his teaching roster that includes nearly 20 different countries, Sky has done and is still doing what every person dreams of--doing what you love. Aaliyah, Jennifer Lopez, Jessica Simpson, Justin Timberlake, Aerosmith, Britney Spears, and even his childhood idols Michael and Janet Jackson are just a select few artists that he has worked along side with.
A cool laid-back character that has the reputation of being an exceptional performer, Sky has always been considered a professional amongst professionals. Time will tell what this unique and rare talent will transform into. Currently, he has completed filming for the film version of Dreamgirls (12/06 release) staring Jaime Fox, Beyonce and Eddie Murphy; Pepsi commercial campaign with Mariah Carey. |
