What is the Power Pak?
Power Pak is an exclusive, intense dance tour comprised of
the most elite dancers from all across the country. Our participants
perform in 4 cities across the United States. All Power Pak
participants are hand selected from Starpower National Talent
Competitions or Dance Power Express Conventions.
2. How do you get selected for
the Power Pak?
Starpower judges select Power Pak performers at Starpower
Regional Competitions not based on score but on showmanship
and potential. You can also audition for Power Pak by sending
in a 2-3 minute video tape, along with a $25.00 audition fee.
For more information on the video audition process, call the
Power Pak office.
3.
Once I receive a qualifier form at an event, what do I do
next?
If you receive a qualifier form at one of our WILD events,
please fill out the form and either turn it into the registration
table before you leave or mail it in to the address listed.
This now puts you on the mailing list to receive a new registration
packet sometime in January or February. You will NOT receive
anything else from us before then.
If
you receive a qualifier form on stage at a Starpower Regional,
you will also receive a registration packet. You can turn
in the qualifier form to our registration table before you
leave the event or mail it in to the address listed. If you
do not plan on attending, this will give us your address to
receive a new registration packet for the following year.
If you are sure you are going to attend, please fill out the
registration packet and also mail it in to the address listed.
4. What does
a typical day on Power Pak consist of?
Power Pak participants begin their day around 8 a.m. and finish
dancing between 5 and 8 p.m. Typically, half of their day
is spent in master classes, the other half in rehearsals;
classes and rehearsals from the best teachers and choreographers
from all across the country. Performer's evenings are filled
with activities such as group dinners and pool parties.
5. What are
the rehearsals for?
During rehearsals Power Pak performers learn a routine that
they will perform as the opening number to Starpower's Battle
of the Stars Show.
6.
What is the Battle of the Stars?
The Battle of the Stars is the final competition of all the
top, high-scoring groups from the Starpower World Championships
in each city. This is the show in which the Power Pak will
perform their routine as the opening number. Their routine
is for performance only; they do not participate in the Battle
of the Stars as a competitor.
7.
What kinds of master classes are there?
Between our four tour locations we provide our Performers
classes in jazz, hip hop, lyrical, ballet, tap, improv, acting
and mock audition. Schedules vary from city to city.
8.
What are the scholarship auditions for?
New in 2005, Power Pak began holding auditions in search of
deserving dancers, who we felt were eager and committed to
becoming the best dancers they can be. These auditions are
for Power Pak performers only. Scholarships have been presented
from Gus Giordano Jazz Dance Center, the Fusion, Wild Dance
Intensive, Dance Power Express and Dance Spirit. Click on
Scholarship Winners to see our previous winners.
9.
What is the Awards Gala?
Our Power Pak Awards Gala is a semi-formal event, including
dinner and an awards presentation. This event is for Power
Pak Performers and Spectators only.
10. How much does it
cost?
The price of the Power Pak tours is based on the number of
people that stay in a hotel room, as your hotel accommodations
are included in the price of the tour. Please refer to our
brochure, call or email for details.
11. What is included
in the Power Pak package?
What is easier said, is what is not included…as a Power
Pak Performers and/or Spectator, you are responsible for your
transportation to and from our Tour location and your meal
and spending money. Just about everything else is included.
12. Can I pick
my roommate?
Yes!
13. What
do the Spectators do while they are on Tour?
Spectators, you have class too! We offer a combination of
classes and panel discussions for you to participate in while
on tour, so bring clothes to move in and your note taking
materials.
14.
Am I eligible for the alumni discount?
Any Power Pak Performer who has participated in a previous
tour is eligible to receive 10% off the Power Pak tuition.
15.
Can I compete at the Starpower Championships if I am on the
Power Pak Tour?
You may compete but keep in mind that Championships are going
on at the same time as the Power Pak rehearsals, classes and
activities; and by participating in Championships you will
miss rehearsal/class time while you compete. We encourage
you to attend a Power Pak Tour in a different city other than
the one you will be competing at.
16. What if I can't
go this year?
As long as you send in your mailing information your spot
can be held until the following year.
